Deputy Minister Emphasizes Council Coordination for Enhanced Service Delivery

Lilongwe, Malawi- Deputy Minister of Local Government, Unity, and Culture, Owen Chomanika, stressed the importance of coordination and collaboration between the secretariat and political arms of the Councils to enhance service delivery, writes Judgement Katika.
Chomanika made these remarks during the opening of a quarterly coordination meeting for central region District Commissioners (DCs) and other council officials in Lilongwe on Monday.
Chomanika highlighted the crucial role of DCs in achieving the country's 2063 agenda, stating, "Local government exists to enhance the socio-economic development of the people in their councils through various sectors such as health, education, and agriculture, among others."
He further explained the significance of the meeting, saying, "That's why you see that the local government family, which includes the Local Government Services Commission (LASCOM) and the National Local Government Finance Committee (NLFGC), are here. We need to engage in a discourse that enhances improvement."
