Deputy Education Minister Opens New Secondary School in Ntcheu District
The K114 million school block, funded through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), will enrol its first class of 60 students in January 2025.
NTCHEU, Malawi — Deputy Minister of Education Nancy Chaola Mdooko officially handed over the newly constructed Bwanje Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) to Ntcheu District Council on Monday, writes Alinafe Nyanda.
The K114 million school block, funded through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), will enrol its first class of 60 students in January 2025.
"Handing over Bwanje CDSS to the community proves wrong those doubting Thomases who don't believe a woman can deliver," said Mdooko, who also serves as Member of Parliament for Ntcheu-Bwanje South.
"We can't talk about Malawi 2063 without talking about human capital development."
The new school will significantly reduce travel distance for local students, who previously walked up to 16 kilometres to reach Sharp Valley CDSS.
Ntcheu District Council Chairperson Flaness Kampeni praised the development, saying it will increase access to secondary education in the district.
The project aligns with Malawi's Vision 2063, which aims to transform the country into a self-reliant nation through initiatives including expanded educational access.
