Scene at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital's mortuary

MALAWI: On Thursday, commotion erupted at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital's mortuary when a deceased relative's family objected to the collection of the relative's body without explanation from hospital officials.

According to the deceased's family members, they were surprised to discover the body had a cut on the head and a distended stomach, and they suspected foul play.

The deceased, Norman Kadewere, is said to have collapsed at home and died at a hospital in Lunzu.

Meanwhile, police intervened in the case by transporting the body to another hospital for a postmortem.

The hospital's administration has yet to comment on the matter.
