Malawi: Hifa Group of Companies, based in Chikwawa, has donated LED flood lights worth K100,000 to the Kamuzu Bridge Roadblock in Chikwawa to help improve service delivery at the station.

The donation was made at the roadblock on September 7, 2022.

During the handover ceremony, the company's Manager Anganile Ngosi stated that the company decided to donate the led flood lights after noticing that the roadblock had been operating without lights for months due to the damage caused by Cyclone Anna earlier this year.

"We understand that the working conditions have not been conducive, particularly at night; however, your visibility at this checkpoint has enhanced security and also helped thwart impending criminal activities in the area; thus, our small support for you to continue with good service delivery for the foreseeable future," said Ngosi.

Officer-in-Charge at the Chikwawa Police Station Alex Simenti, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), praised the HGC management for the timely donation.

According to Simenti, the donation will go a long way toward reducing the workload typically experienced at the roadblock.

He stated: "Officers used to find it difficult to work at night without lights, but that is no longer the case. This will greatly improve our efficiency."

The Kamuzu Bridge is one of Chikwawa's busiest roadblocks.
