Collaboration Among Developmental Partners Crucial for Enhancing Development in Zomba District

Zomba, Malawi -Collaboration among developmental partners in Zomba District has been identified as a crucial factor contributing to enhanced development in the region, writes Zonkey Kaziyenda.
This sentiment was expressed by the Executive Director of the Transparency Initiative, Nicholas Mwisana, during an interface meeting where the Transparency Initiative partnered with other organisations to engage various developmental partners, including civil society organisations and government departments, operating in Zomba District.
Mwisana emphasised the importance of developmental partners working together to implement various projects in the district. He pointed out that collaboration helps prevent the duplication of projects in the same area and ensures the delivery of quality services to communities.
"We need to strengthen good working relationships among the civil society organizations (CSOs), Zomba District Council, and Zomba City Council. By doing this, we hope to deliver quality projects to the people in the district and the city. In some instances, we find that two or more organizations are conducting the same project in one particular area. If we can work as a team, it can help save resources that can be channeled to other areas," said Mwisana.
He urged organizations to share information and collaborate effectively to avoid duplication of projects, which can signify a lack of working collaboration and professionalism.
Zomba District Council Vice Chairperson, William Muthipa, encouraged civil society organizations in the district to work in partnership to enhance development. While there are numerous civil society organizations in the district, only a few are visible on the ground implementing various projects.
Promoting working relationships between them can help revamp dormant organizations, he said.
"Working together among developmental partners in the district can help address the challenges the district is facing in terms of development. We urge them to be cooperative so that our district can be a hub of development," said Muthipa.
Muthipa advised government department directors in the district to provide proper technical expertise and guidance to civil society organizations, ensuring that the projects they intend to implement align with Malawi63.
