Civo United Announces Restructuring of Technical Team Following Head Coach Departure
According to media reports, there is a high possibility that Oscar Kaunda will take over as head coach on the government-sponsored side, while Joseph Kachule or Charles Ben could be promoted.
Malawi: Following the departure of head coach Franco Ndawa, Civo United has announced that it will soon be restructuring its technical team and making changes to the responsibilities and employment positions of its coaches, writes Alinafe Nyanda.
According to media reports, there is a high possibility that Oscar Kaunda will take over as head coach on the government-sponsored side, while Joseph Kachule or Charles Ben could be promoted.
However, Civo United general secretary Ronald Chiwaula said that the executive committee will be meeting to discuss the issue, as well as the poor performances and unconvincing victories that the club experienced last season.
Chiwaula stated that the team has a clear objective of becoming one of the most successful football clubs in the country and that its recent average and lacklustre performances are contrary to this objective.
"Civo is one of the big teams in the country, and I promise our faithful fans that next season the team will deliver more as we vow to improve following a disappointing season last year," said Chiwaula.
"I think we have a quality squad, and the players in the team are some of the best in the country. We just need luck in order for us to start winning trophies. But I promise you that something good will happen next season."
During the 2022 season, the Lilongwe-based outfit finished in eighth place with 45 points from 30 games. So far, the team has lost Christopher Kumwembe to Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.
