Civil Servants Encouraged to Join Medical Aid Society for Affordable Healthcare
The Medical Aid Society of Malawi (MASM) urges civil servants to join its medical scheme for accessible and affordable healthcare.
NSANJE, Malawi – In an effort to provide civil servants with affordable healthcare, the Medical Aid Society of Malawi (MASM) has urged them to join its medical scheme, which offers standard and quality health services they may otherwise struggle to afford, writes Cornelius Lupenga.
Bruno Mandere, MASM Team Leader for Sales in Blantyre, spoke about the importance of civil servants enrolling in the medical scheme during a weeklong sensitization programme held in Nsanje. The government introduced the civil servant’s medical scheme through MASM in 2021.
"Joining the civil servant’s medical scheme enables individuals to access healthcare services that they may not be able to afford on their own," Mandere stated.
He highlighted that MASM is actively raising awareness about the benefits of joining the medical scheme.
Mandere also pointed out that there are various categories within the scheme, allowing civil servants to choose the option that suits them best.
"The civil servants’ medical scheme operates differently from the MASM office," clarified the team leader.
He further highlighted that there is a knowledge gap among many civil servants regarding this development.
However, he expressed optimism that more individuals would choose to join the scheme.
Tendai Nduna, a civil servant, expressed gratitude for the organization's visit to Nsanje.
"I have been enlightened, and I am going to join the medical scheme so that my family can have access to medical services," she affirmed.
By encouraging civil servants to enrol in the medical scheme, MASM aims to enhance the accessibility and affordability of healthcare services for government employees and their families.
