LILONGWE, Malawi— A leader of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian's Livingstonia Synod says the death of Vice President Saulos Chilima has fostered unity among Malawi's political leaders, writes Alinafe Sambo.
Rev. Edward Kamthunzi, Executive Director for Early Childhood Development, noted that Chilima consistently advocated for peace and unity, themes reflected at his burial ceremony.
Kamthunzi highlighted a moment when President Lazarus Chakwera embraced former President Peter Mutharika, calling it a display of unity rarely seen among leaders from different political parties.
He expressed hope that this spirit of cooperation would continue into the upcoming campaign period, saying it could benefit national development.
Chilima and eight others died in a plane crash last week in Chikangawa Forest.
