Chitipa Stadium Construction on Track Despite Weather, Economic Hurdles

CHITIPA, Malawi -- Construction of the Chitipa Stadium has surpassed the halfway mark and remains on schedule despite weather and economic challenges, local officials confirmed Thursday, writes Patricia Kayuni.
During a site visit by district council officials and Chitipa United football club supporters, Director of Public Works Misheck Gondwe expressed satisfaction with the progress.
"Council conducts frequent monitoring, and so far we are optimistic that work will be completed within the contracted 90-day timeframe despite weather and economic challenges," Gondwe said.
Cheyo Chiona of Twende Construction, speaking on behalf of the contractors, reported that "over 50% of the work has been completed" and assured that construction will meet the 90-day deadline.
