Chikwawa Police Report 33% Decline in Road Accidents
Road accidents decreased significantly in Chikwawa district in Q1 this year, per Research and Planning Branch of local police, writes writes Cornelius Lupenga.
Chikwawa, Malawi -There has been a significant decrease in road accidents in the district during the first quarter of this year, according to the Research and Planning Branch of Chikwawa Police, writes Cornelius Lupenga.
Deputy Public Relations Officer for Chikwawa Police, Constable Chancy Mfune, confirmed the news, saying that the traffic management report indicates a 33% decline in road accidents.
"From January to March this year, a total of two road accidents were registered, with one considered as serious," Constable Mfune said.
"Last year, during the same period, there were three, which were all fatal accidents."
The deputy publicist attributed the decline to intensified efforts to enforce traffic rules and regulations in all accident-prone places along the M1 road.
"We are pleased to see that our efforts are paying off, and we will continue to work hard to enforce road safety awareness in order to continue reducing road accidents," she added.
The Chikwawa Police Department is encouraging drivers to exercise caution and follow all traffic laws and regulations to ensure that the district's roads remain safe for all travellers.
