Chief Justice Mzikamanda calls for transformative leadership
Mzikamanda, the event's guest of honour, stated that transformative leadership is the key to addressing challenges that impede the country's development.
Malawi: Chief Justice Rezine Mzikamanda, SC, has urged leaders in the country to be transformative if the country is to progress in the right direction.
He made the remarks at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe on Friday and Saturday during the Dynamic Leaders and Gatekeepers Forum (DLGF).
Mzikamanda, the event's guest of honour, stated that transformative leadership is the key to addressing challenges that impede the country's development.
He said: "It is important to have transformative leadership, especially in turbulent times like the one we are going through whereby economically and socially things have gone bad not only here in Malawi but globally due to various challenges such as Covid-19 and the war in Ukraine.
“Therefore, in these turbulent times, transformative leadership is critical as it appeals and responds to the country's challenges."
As a result, he praised the DLGF, saying that it would help to develop transformative leaders in the country.
In his remarks, DLGF Executive Chairman Rev. Dr Zacc Kawalala stated that DLGFs are intended to build capacity among leaders and gatekeepers in the country's government and private sectors.
He said: "DLGFs are organized to challenge leaders and gatekeepers not to give up in bad situations that we are going through as a country, for example like the time we are experiencing where COVID-19, Cyclones and Ukraine war have brought problems.
“The forums equip leaders and gatekeepers with knowledge so that they should rise up and bring change in bad situations like these.”
The DLGF was also attended by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director-General Martha Chizuma and St John of God Hospital Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr Charles Masulani, who both delivered speeches.
