LILONGWE, Malawi— The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) in partnership with NBS Bank, the official sponsor of the Charity Shield Cup, unveiled kits Thursday for FCB Nyasa Bullets and Silver Strikers ahead of their match on Saturday at Bingu National Stadium, writes Alinafe Nyanda.
FAM marketing and broadcasting manager Tulipo Mwenelupembe commended NBS Bank for the sponsorship, saying the highly anticipated Charity Shield will give supporters a glimpse of how the teams have prepared ahead of the season.
"As a football governing body, we appreciate a lot the role the bank is playing in developing the sport, as NBS has increased the sponsorship from K20 million to K40 million," Mwenelupembe said.
He disclosed that money raised from the match will be used to build sanitation facilities at different schools in Lilongwe.
Meanwhile, Silver Strikers Football Club CEO Patrick Chimimba warned teams in the top league and other competitions to watch out, as his side is more than ready this season, starting with the game against Bullets.
The two rivals are set to clash in the Charity Shield match to mark the start of the 2024/2025 season.
