Chakwera: Church-State collaboration key to nation's transformation

LILONGWE, MALAWI — President Lazarus Chakwera attended the annual CCAP Nkhoma Synod Thanksgiving Sunday alongside the First Lady, emphasizing the importance of gratitude to God amidst the nation's prevailing socioeconomic challenges, writes Winston Mwale.
During the event at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe, President Chakwera expressed his gratitude for the positive aspects that still contribute to the livelihoods of Malawians.
He acknowledged the significance of the occasion, as it presented a broader opportunity for the nation to continue showing appreciation to God.
The President pledged to foster deeper collaboration between the Church and State in an effort to transform the lives of the communities they both serve in their respective capacities.
"I am also delighted to have received firm assurances from the Nkhoma Synod for continued support as we both deliver services in various sectors," stated President Chakwera.
He highlighted the critical areas of health and sanitation, education, agriculture, social protection programmes, and climate change management as key focus areas for their joint endeavours.
The country’s vice president, Saulos Chilima, was also in attendance at the event.
