Bullets Retain Super League Title for 5th Straight Year

BLANTYRE, Malawi - FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have retained the TNM Super League championship for the 5th consecutive season after drawing 1-1 with Silver Strikers at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday, writes Happy Valirani.
The result allowed Bullets to finish atop the league table with 60 points from 30 games and be crowned 2023 champions.
Silver Strikers finished second with 57 points, while Mighty Mukuru Wanderers secured third position with 55 points after losing to Civil Service United 1-0.
"The performance was very impressive, we were looking for a draw or a win this game. We tried to manage the game and we got a goal in the second half, but our opponents equalized, but those were the results we were looking at," said Bullets coach Calisto Pasuwa, who has led the team to five titles since joining in 2018.
Silver Strikers coach Pieter De Jongh was given a red card after arguing with the referee.
Assistant coach Peter Mgangira said his team will "come back strong next year to lift the championship."
"Firstly we need to congratulate FCB Nyasa Big Bullets for lifting the 2023 TNM Super League championship. It was a good game and those who came to the stadium have witnessed one of the good games today," Mgangira said.
Extreme FC, Blue Eagles and Red Lions were relegated after finishing in the bottom three places. Clement Nyondo of Dedza Dynamos was the top scorer with 16 goals.
