Bullets Defeat Civil Service United 2-0 in Airtel Top 8
Bullets, who won the cup in 2023, aim to defend their title in this year's edition of the Airtel Top 8 Cup.
BLANTYRE, Malawi — FCB Nyasa Big Bullets secured a 2-0 victory over Civil Service United in the first leg of their Airtel Top 8 Zamadolo 2024 match at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday, writes Happy Valirani.
Stanley Billiat and Chawanangwa Gumbo scored in the 7th and 12th minutes, respectively, giving the defending champions a solid advantage heading into the second leg.
Bullets' first assistant coach, Michael Ngore, praised his team's performance but remained cautious about the return leg.
"It wasn't an easy game. We had to fight for it," Ngore said. "I don't think we have an advantage over them because that will be a new game altogether."
Civil Service United coach Abbas Makawa attributed the loss to early lapses in concentration.
"We lost touch in the first minutes of the game," Makawa said.
"We just need to go back and rectify those problems so that we can come back strong in the second leg."
The return match will be played at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe later this month.
