Botswana's Mrs. Universe Contestant Shines in Philippines

MANILA, Philippines — Portiah Sthabiso Mokgathong, Botswana's representative at the Mrs Universe pageant in the Philippines, continues to make her nation proud with her outstanding performance and recognition in the international competition, writes Onneile Setlalekgosi.
Mokgathong, a dedicated mother, wife, and reigning queen for Mrs. Botswana, has been flying the country's flag high at the prestigious Mrs. Universe pageant, where she has already secured two notable awards.
Her remarkable achievements include winning the coveted top African award and receiving recognition for her striking Native National costume.
The latter featured a captivating headpiece adorned with a sculpture of the Kori bustard, Africa's largest and heaviest flying bird, weighing approximately 18 kilograms.
Mokgathong's traditional attire also paid tribute to Botswana's rich cultural heritage, symbolizing the country's famed diamond industry and intricate basketry craftsmanship.
The ensemble further incorporated the colours of Botswana's flag: blue, black, and white. Additionally, she proudly held a shield featuring Botswana's national coat of arms.

Participants in the competition can be married, divorced, or widowed and must fall within the age range of 18 to 55 years.
