KARONGA, Malawi— Blue Eagles FC secured a spot in the FDH Bank Cup semifinals with a commanding 3-0 victory over Baka City FC in Sunday's quarterfinal match at Karonga Stadium, writes Lusekero Mhango.
Schumaker Kuwali netted twice and Paul Master added another goal, all in the first half, propelling the Lilongwe-based team to a semifinal clash with Karonga United.
Baka City, currently at the bottom of the TNM Super League, struggled throughout the match.
Despite early chances from Nature Kawonga and Geoffrey Mwalwembe, the home side failed to mount a significant challenge after falling behind.
Kuwali opened the scoring in the 9th minute and doubled the lead in the 39th. Master sealed the dominant first-half performance with a tap-in during the 43rd minute.
Baka City coach Kondwani Mwalweni criticized the officiating post-match, claiming, "The decision-making from the men in black was strange; it was as if they planned for us to lose."
Blue Eagles coach Elia Kananji expressed satisfaction with the result, stating, "We are happy to have come this far, but now our aim is to reach the finals."
