BLANTYRE, Malawi— A youth group in Blantyre is set to promote Malawian culture through a talent exhibition featuring music, poetry, storytelling, and dance, writes Happy Valirani.
Nzeka Arts, in collaboration with Chichiri Museum, has organized the "Luso Langa" talent exhibition scheduled for Sept. 1 at Chichiri Museum in Blantyre.
Harris Kamwendo, director of Nzeka Arts, told The AfricaBrief that the event aims to provide a platform for young talent while emphasizing Malawian cultural elements.
"The idea of this event is to let Malawian cultural elements be exposed in artistic works that people are creating nowadays," Kamwendo said.
"Through this event, artists will be encouraged to incorporate Malawian cultural elements for identity and pride."
The organizers hope to nurture and expose local talent, recognizing its potential to drive socioeconomic change for individuals and the country.
Approximately 25 artists have registered to perform across various categories. The event will also feature guest performances by Chichiri Cultural troupe and Agorosso.
Kamwendo emphasized that talented young people passionate about developing their skills in poetry, music, storytelling, and dance are eligible to participate.
"As Nzeka Arts, our inspiration emanates from the fact that we recognize that Malawi has a lot of talent that needs nurturing and exposure," he added.
