Blantyre Woman Wins Trip to Seychelles in MyBucks Banking Corporation Sizoni Yanga Promotion
The final draw for the promotion was held on Thursday at the MyBucks branch in Lilongwe Old Town, where Mwanyongo was announced as the winner.
Malawi: Nellie Mwanyongo, a resident of Blantyre, has won a five-day trip to Seychelles as the grand prize in the Sizoni Yanga promotion by MyBucks Banking Corporation, writes Moses Nyirenda.
The promotion was launched in June of last year.
The final draw for the promotion was held on Thursday at the MyBucks branch in Lilongwe Old Town, where Mwanyongo was announced as the winner.
Mwanyongo, who works at the Pesticides Control Board, expressed her excitement in a phone call with a MyBucks bank official:
"I am so happy and I feel honored, I was not expecting that this would happen to me and I thank God," said Mwanyongo.
Mwanyongo encouraged those without a MyBucks bank account to open one to start enjoying the benefits and services offered by the corporation.
To qualify for the promotion, customers with a savings account were required to deposit K50,000 and maintain it as a minimum balance for a month, while customers with a current account were required to do the same.
Those with a fixed deposit account had to deposit K100,000 and maintain it for a month.
Linda Nkosi, the MyBucks Malawi Marketing and Customer Experience Manager, spoke about the intention behind the promotion:
"We wanted to inculcate a saving culture among our customers, and throughout the promotion we have seen a lot of customers saving their money by depositing it into their bank accounts," said Nkosi.
The bank has been giving out t-shirts and shopping vouchers in the Sizoni Yanga promotion since its launch.
In addition to Mwanyongo's grand prize, one customer won a 15 by 30-metre plot, and another won a four-plate gas cooker during the final draw.
Nkosi also mentioned that the bank has plans to introduce new products and services to excite customers now that the promotion has ended.
