Blantyre Organization Erects Training Space to Enhance Acrobatics, Social Skills for Children
Courageous Kids Foundation erects training space to enhance acrobatic and social skills for vulnerable children in Blantyre. BLANTYRE, MALAWI —
BLANTYRE, Malawi-A Blantyre-based organisation, Courageous Kids Foundation, has erected a training and event space to enhance acrobatic and social skills for the children at the centre, writes Thokozani Beaton.
Adrian Khoza, who is overseeing the initiative, said during a training session in Mpemba this week that the organisation is implementing various initiatives, including an acrobatics standing stage that will allow children to showcase their skills and interact with colleagues through shows to be introduced soon.
"We are glad we have built a training space for our practises. This will improve and enhance children's skills in circus arts. This gesture has been made possible by our colleagues from outside the country," said Khoza.
Thibault Gouin, co-founder of the French-German circus organisation LaMule Cirque, whose organisation is supporting the project, said that apart from supporting the stage event, the organisation is also assisting the project with a library and computer rooms with access to the internet in order to allow the children to tell their story themselves.
"We are building together a library with books, computers, and access to the internet," said Gouin.
"Computers and the internet will allow them to tell their story by themselves, run their social media through a worldwide circus community, and exchange with people from other cultures."
In a previous interview with this publication, the founder of Courageous Kids Foundation, Courageous Musasa, stated that with unstable sponsorship from well-wishers, the organisation will continue to explore ways to raise funds for the children's daily needs and education. Currently, the community orphanage care centre cares for 70 children.
The training and event space is a welcome addition to the Courageous Kids Foundation and will help the children develop their acrobatic skills and social interactions.
The organisation is grateful for the support of LaMule Cirque and other well-wishers who have helped make this project possible.
