Big Bullets, Silver to Clash in Airtel Top 8 Cup Final
Both finalists have won the tournament twice since its inception in 2017.
LILONGWE, Malawi— FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers have secured spots in the Airtel Top 8 Zamadolo Cup final, with K30 million at stake for the winner, writes Happy Valirani.
The final is set for Nov. 9 at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe, where both semifinal matches were played this weekend.
Silver Strikers edged Mighty Mukuru Wanderers 1-0 on Saturday, while defending champions Bullets defeated Kamuzu Barracks 2-0 on Sunday.
Ephraim Kondowe put Bullets ahead in the second minute, and substitute Blessings Mpokera sealed the victory with a free kick in the 73rd minute.
"They gave us a very good run for this victory," Bullets coach Kalisto Pasuwa said.
"In the second half, we had to push up the intensity to get a second goal."
Kamuzu Barracks coach Charles Kamanga cited fatigue as a factor in his team's defeat.
"Three games in the space of three days is not good for the health of the players," Kamanga said.
Both finalists have won the tournament twice since its inception in 2017.
