BLANTYRE, Malawi — Bangwe All Stars and Mighty Wakawaka Tigers played to a 0-0 draw in a TNM Super League match Tuesday at Mpira Stadium, writes Happy Valirani.
Both teams entered the match looking to improve their standings in the league.
Bangwe came off a 1-0 away loss to Creck Sporting Club, while Tigers suffered a 3-2 home defeat to MAFCO FC on Saturday.
Tigers currently sit in 13th place, one spot above the relegation zone with 13 points from 13 games.
Bangwe occupy the 15th position, just above last-place Baka City. They have registered only one win in 13 matches, accumulating eight points.
Bangwe head coach Rodgers Yasin expressed optimism despite the result.
"It's a concern that we are not scoring, but we're working on it," Yasin said.
"We're playing good football; the only problem is finishing. I'm happy we didn't concede today, which is good. I'm confident the team will start winning."
Leonard Mpulula, Mighty Tigers coach, acknowledged his team's struggles.
"We are passing through difficult times," Mpulula said. "We've been winless for some time, especially in Super League games. We're having problems with finishing and need to work on this until the transfer window opens."
