Bangwe All Stars Coach Nyambose Resigns, Cites Health Reasons
Nyambose's resignation comes just three months after he joined the Bangwe-based club on a 7-month contract to lead the team in the 2024 football season.
BLANTYRE, Malawi — Christopher Nyambose, the head coach of Bangwe All Stars FC, has resigned from his position, citing personal and health reasons, writes Happy Valirani.
In a resignation letter dated April 22, 2024, which was obtained by the Associated Press, Nyambose wrote: "I would like your honourable office to acknowledge my termination letter. I hereby terminate my 7-month contract with Bangwe All Stars FC as Head coach forthwith."
The letter further stated, "The reason behind my termination of the contract is personal and health grounds."
Nyambose's resignation comes just three months after he joined the Bangwe-based club on a 7-month contract to lead the team in the 2024 football season.
He previously served as the head coach of Mighty Wakawaka Tigers until his contract expired at the end of the 2023 season.
Chikumbutso Mathumba, the Chief Executive Officer of Bangwe All Stars, confirmed the development in an interview with AfricaBrief.
"It's true that we have received a resignation letter from our coach this afternoon. In the letter, he indicated that he is resigning on personal and health grounds," Mathumba said.
While the resignation took the club by surprise, Mathumba stated that the team has accepted Nyambose's decision.
"As a team, we have accepted the resignation although it has taken us by surprise, and now we will sit with the management and see who will be the right person to replace him. But in the meantime, his role will be taken by the vice coach and his backroom staff," he added.
Bangwe All Stars have had a difficult start to the 2024 TNM Super League season, remaining winless in their first three games.
They have lost to FOMO FC and Silver Strikers, while drawing against Karonga United on Sunday. The team currently anchors the log table with just one point.
