Baka City and Civil Share Spoils in Goalless Draw
The draw leaves Baka City at the bottom of the league table with eight points from 17 matches, while Civil Service United climbs to sixth place with 24 points from the same number of games.
Karonga, Malawi - Baka City and Civil Service United played out a frustrating goalless draw at Karonga Stadium on Sunday, with both teams failing to break the deadlock in a match lacking in goal-mouth action, writes Lusekero Mhango.
The point was a welcome relief for Baka City, who suffered a crushing 8-0 defeat to Creck Sporting Club last weekend.
Their best chance came in the 42nd minute when Gule Mwaiaisope's long-range shot narrowly missed the target.
Civil Service United, coming off a convincing 4-0 win over Chitipa United, struggled to find their rhythm. Festus Duwe had the visitors' best opportunity but his shot went wide after a skillful maneuver past the Baka defense.
"My players reacted well to last weekend's humiliation, and the point was well-deserved," said Baka City coach Kondwani Mwalweni.
Abas Makawa, the coach of Civil Service United, saw the draw as a missed opportunity.
"We were not at our best, which is frustrating because the three points were there for the taking," he explained.
