MALAWI: Democratic Progressive Party leader Arthur Peter Mutharika (APM), has issued a strong warning to other members of his party.
The DPP's two camps held rallies last weekend, Saturday and Sunday, at the same venue, Mgona Ground in Lilongwe.
The DPP Central Region Committee called for the Saturday rally, which was addressed by Vice President for the Centre Honourable Zeria Chakale, while Secretary General Grezelder Jeffrey gathered the rally, which was presided over by Vice President of the South Kondwani Nankhumwa.
However, Mutharika, former president of Malawi, said in a statement released on Wednesday that Grezelder Nankhumwa's actions were indisciplined and disloyal.
He claimed that the two never consulted the party before approving the rally, in contrast to other camp members who informed the party of the decision to hold the rally on April 30th, 2022.
Mutharika has also requested that members respect the party's leadership and the Constitution.
