PRETORIA, South Africa - The Malawi Under-21 National Netball team continued their winning streak at the Netball World Youth Cup 2025 Africa qualifiers, defeating Kenya 42-39 in a thrilling contest on Tuesday afternoon, writes Happy Valirani.
The match, played at the Rembrand Hall on the University of Pretoria's Hillcrest campus, saw the Malawian girls maintain their lead throughout the four quarters against the determined Kenyan side.
After a resounding 64-24 victory over Tanzania earlier in the day, the young Malawian squad showed no signs of slowing down, taking an early 9-8 lead in the first quarter.
The second quarter ended with Malawi ahead 21-19, as both teams fought fiercely for dominance on the court.
Though Kenya pressed hard in the third quarter to level the scores, the efforts of Stella Matelezi and Florence Jeke in Malawi's attacking end proved unstoppable, allowing their side to extend the lead to 39-29.
The final quarter witnessed a tense battle, but Malawi held their nerve to secure a 42-39 victory.
