Angola Takes SADC Chair, Focuses on Industrialization
Angola takes over the Chairship of the SADC Council of Ministers, focusing on human and financial capital for sustainable industrialization.
LUANDA, ANGOLA — The Council of Ministers of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) met in Luanda, Angola, to discuss regional integration issues and prepare for the upcoming SADC Summit, writes Winston Mwale.
During the meeting, Angola assumed the chair of the Council of Ministers from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
In his acceptance speech, Ambassador Téte António, the Minister of External Relations of Angola, emphasised the importance of human and financial capital for sustainable industrialization in the SADC region.
The theme for Angola's Chairship is "Human and Financial Capital: The Key Drivers for Sustainable Industrialization in the SADC Region."
This theme aims to address the need for adequate human resources in the face of climate change and the 4th Industrial Revolution, as well as sufficient financial resources for sustainable funding mechanisms.
Angola's leadership will focus on promoting industrialization in the region by harnessing the potential of human and financial capital.
The country aims to support the development of skilled human resources and secure sustainable funding to drive economic growth and prosperity in the SADC region.
The 43rd SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government is scheduled to take place on August 17, 2023, where further discussions on regional integration and industrialization will be held.
