All set for LSPCA fund-raising golf tournament

The Lilongwe Society for the Protection and Care of Animals (LSPCA) says everything is set for its fundraising golf tournament on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Lilongwe Golf Club.

Sibindi Van Dam-the funds which will be raised in the golf tournament will be channelled to some of our works.

Malawi: The Lilongwe Society for the Protection and Care of Animals (LSPCA) says everything is set for its fundraising golf tournament on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Lilongwe Golf Club.

Eveline Sibindi van Dam, CEO of the LSPCA, stated that the fundraising golf tournament aims to raise funds to help the LSPCA carry out some of its projects.

She said: "Every year, we serve 5,000 animals in our cutting-edge veterinary hospital in Kanengo and a veterinary clinic in Area 3. We also run a continuous rabies vaccination campaign and have vaccinated over 200,000 dogs in Lilongwe in order to eliminate rabies from Malawi; thus, the funds raised in the golf tournament will be channelled to some of our works.”

She went on to say that the funds raised would be used to help donkeys in Lilongwe, Dedza, and Dowa districts, as well as to train veterinary and para-veterinary students from Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR).

According to her, the LSPCA serves animals in 50% of Lilongwe's high-density areas and 100% of small-scale farms around Lilongwe via a mobile clinic that provides free services.

She also stated that the LSPCA collaborates with the government and LUANAR and that it primarily serves the central region.

"The LSPCA is the Malawi Government's trusted partner in all animal welfare and animal health matters in Malawi." We are also a trusted partner of the university and college LUANAR, which provides veterinary and para-veterinary education in the country, as well as the primary provider of veterinary services in central Malawi, serving over 2,000 households," she added.

She urged well-wishers to attend the golf tournament in large numbers and assist the LSPCA in raising funds to help improve its services.

"I am urging well-wishers to join us for a fun-filled day that raises awareness and funds for Malawi's underdog; animal welfare," she explained.
