All Roads Lead to Kamuzu Stadium for Airtel Top 8 Final Showdown
All roads lead to Kamuzu on Saturday to witness who will be crowned the 2023/2024 Airtel Top 8 champions and claim the first piece of silverware this year.
BLANTYRE, Malawi- All roads lead to Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday where FC Nyasa Big Bullets will face Mafco FC in the 2023 Airtel Top 8 final, writes Alinafe Nyanda.
The first piece of silverware this year is up for grabs as Bullets look to defend their trophy against a Mafco side seeking revenge after last season's defeat in the FDH Cup final.
"We have a point to prove," said Mafco legend Oscar 'Tiote' Chapitapansi. "Any team can be beaten on a good day."
The two teams booked their spot in the final after defeating Blue Eagles and Silver Strikers respectively in the semifinals.
Bullets edged out Eagles 3-2 at Bingu National Stadium while Mafco prevailed 3-1 on penalties against Silver after a 0-0 draw in regulation.
Chapitapansi, a former player for Moyale, KB, Wanderers and Escom United, predicts a Mafco victory if the soldiers are clinical in front of goal.
However, he acknowledged that outsmarting Bullets at their home stadium won't be easy.
Bullets defeated Mafco 3-0 in last season's FDH Cup final and will be looking to repeat that result on Saturday. But Mafco are determined to avenge that loss in the Airtel Top 8 final.
According to the Football Association of Malawi (FAM), the winner of this year's Airtel Top 8 will receive K17 million in prize money.
The stage is set for a thrilling final between Malawi's two football giants.
