Airtel Malawi Supports 2023 Malawi Engineering Institution Annual Conference
The upcoming Malawi Engineering Institution's Conference is the third event of its kind since its inception and will be followed by an Annual General Meeting (AGM) for its members.
Salima, Malawi - Airtel Malawi has contributed 5 million Kwacha to the Malawi Engineering Institution to assist in hosting its annual conference scheduled for November 9th-10th, 2023 in Salima, writes Moses Nyirenda.
The conference, themed 'Building Back Better,' aims to address the deployment of engineering solutions capable of withstanding the impacts of climate change, which have previously affected Airtel's infrastructure in disaster situations.
The conference will cover four sub-themes: Engineering disaster preparedness, climate change and mitigation, sustainability through engineering, and guidelines and standards for climate-resilient infrastructure.
In a press statement released on Friday, Airtel Malawi's Head of Brand Communications, CSR & PR, Norah Chavula Chirwa, emphasized the importance of engineers and their role in advancing technology and solutions for the country.
She explained why her company decided to support the forthcoming annual conference for engineers.
"Airtel Malawi Plc recognizes engineers as crucial drivers behind the development of the country through advanced technology innovations and solutions; hence, our support for the conference this year," Chirwa said.
"We consider the Malawi Engineering Institution as a critical partner, as our engineers are already members of the institution, which regulates the discipline of engineering in Malawi," she added.
Engineer James Makwakwa, Vice Chairperson of the Malawi Engineering Institution's Conference, expressed his gratitude to Airtel Malawi for their support of the upcoming annual conference.
"We are deeply grateful for the sponsorship towards the Malawi Engineering Institution Engineering Conference that we have received from Airtel Malawi," Makwakwa said.
"The sponsorship demonstrates the true partnership that we have with Airtel Malawi Plc. We believe that Airtel Malawi PLC has embraced our conference theme, 'Building Back Better,' and this sponsorship will ultimately enable the dissemination of information about building resilience in our approaches to combating climate change effects," he added.
