Airtel Malawi Introduces 'Limodzi Insurance' to Cover Customers in Accidents, Hospitalization
Airtel Malawi launches insurance product to cover accidents and hospitalization, writes Moses Nyirenda.
LILONGWE, Malawi — Airtel Malawi's newly introduced insurance product, 'Limodzi Insurance,' is designed to provide coverage for Airtel Malawi customers during accidents and hospitalisation, according to Airtel Money Director, Brighton Banda, writes Moses Nyirenda.
Banda explained the rationale behind the product, stating, "The cost of hospitalisation and the costs when you are involved in an accident are quite high, and not all of our customers have that money to cover those eventualities. This is why we partnered with these two companies, Britam Malawi and Inclusivity Solutions, to bring our customers the insurance product to cover them in times of accidents and hospitalisation."
To access the insurance product, customers are required to visit the Airtel Money platform by dialling *211# and selecting option 5 to register for individual or family insurance coverage, Banda added.
He encouraged all Airtel customers to take advantage of the insurance product and ensure coverage during challenging times.
Commenting on the affordability of the insurance service, Britam Chief Executive Officer Wales Meja stated, "This product is very affordable, a month you pay as little as K150,000. We thought it wise to make the product as affordable as that, as in Malawi, the majority of the people are those living in rural areas, which make up almost 60–70 percent of the country's population. Those are people that are struggling financially; hence, we decided to bring them an affordable insurance service to help them when they have been involved in an accident or hospitalisation."
Inclusivity Solutions Head of Operations Sam Ndori reassured customers that his company would ensure easy access to the new insurance product across the country, especially for Airtel Malawi customers.
The collaborative effort aims to provide financial support and accessibility to insurance coverage when it is most needed.
Mine is a question, you are talking of hospitalization and accident, do you mean I can access this when am hospitalized due to an illness?
