Airtel Malawi Continues Support for Blood Generation to Save Lives
Airtel Malawi reaffirms commitment to partnering with Malawi Blood Transfusion Services to generate blood and save lives in the country.
LILONGWE, Malawi – Airtel Malawi, one of the country's leading mobile network service providers, has announced its continued support for the Malawi Blood Transfusion Services (MBTS) in its efforts to generate blood for patients in need, writes Moses Nyirenda.
Airtel Malawi Managing Director Charles Kamoto expressed the company's commitment during a recent blood donation exercise organised in partnership with MBTS in Lilongwe.
Highlighting the importance of their involvement, Kamoto stated, "As a company, we believe we can play a major role in contributing to saving the lives of many Malawians. One pint can save a life, and more pints will save more lives. Since we started this initiative, we have made a significant contribution, and we aim to continue this on an annual basis. When our blood levels are replenished, it's time for us to give back and ensure that lives at risk are saved."
Airtel Malawi's dedication to conducting blood donation drives annually aims to inspire the public to embrace the spirit of donating blood.
Kamoto explained, "By leading by example and organising blood donation initiatives on an annual basis, we hope to encourage others to follow suit. When people see us taking part in this noble cause, we believe it motivates them to come forward and donate blood, knowing that it is possible."
Expressing gratitude for Airtel Malawi's support, MBTS Assistant Public Relations Officer Chikumbutso Mbendera stated, "As a country, we require around 120,000 units of blood each year, but we have not yet reached that level. Therefore, I want to thank Airtel for its ongoing support and urge other companies in the country to emulate their efforts. This will help us boost our blood reserves and save more lives."
Through their partnership with MBTS, Airtel Malawi is making a significant impact on addressing the shortage of blood in the country.
By continuing to generate blood and encouraging public participation, they are playing a vital role in saving lives and ensuring the availability of this life-saving resource when needed.
