South Africa: The three-day action-packed 18th African Investigative Journalism Conference concluded on November 2, 2022, at Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg, South Africa, with over 200 attendees.

Winston Mwale, Editor-in-Chief of AfricaBrief, spoke with Anton Harber, the conference convener, to learn more about the conference's history, successes, and challenges.

Harber, who is also the Executive Director of the Campaign for Free Expression, a non-profit organisation that advocates for free expression for all in southern Africa, and Caxton Professor of Journalism (Adjunct) at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, unpacks the AIJC story in this exclusive interview.
