African Business Council Director wins award for leadership
Dr. Tinashe Manzungu receives African Archivers Award for his leadership and commitment to Africa's economic transformation and global markets.
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — Dr. Tinashe Manzungu, African Business Council Director and COMESA Board Director, was presented with the African Archivers Award for Excellence in Leadership and Global Corporate Enterprise in Africa at the Houses of Parliament in Westminster, writes Staff Writer.
Expressing his surprise and gratitude, Manzungu described the award as a unique challenge that aligns with his ambition to contribute significantly to Africa's economic transformation, making the continent a hotspot for global markets.
"This is my first time receiving the African Archivers Award, and it came as a surprise. It is an honour, coming from the whole continent—it is something that I then sit back and say, oh so people have been seeing what I have been doing. I also feel really under immense pressure to deliver more than before in order to continue with the honour, honouring the award, and doing so in line with my desire to be part of Africa's economic transformation, making the continent a hotspot for the global market," he said.
Manzungu emphasised the significance of good leadership in the success of African projects and the potential within the continent. He highlighted the importance of the African Continental Free Trade Area and its role in driving development across all sectors.
"As for Africa, this award speaks for the potential that is within us and what we have to deliver, so the award gives us the force to go forward. Going forward, we will be looking at issues related to the Africa Continental Free Trade Area, a machine that was designed to join the 50 nations. Of course, there are one or two countries that have not joined. So we are saying that through free trade, we are going to make sure that Africa develops in all sectors," he explained.
Manzungu also encouraged young people in Africa to start their leadership journeys early and remain focused in order to transform the continent's economy and socio-economic development.
"I encourage young people in Africa who desire to become global leaders to start younger, as early as they can. In my career path, I have learned that everything is very possible, one can create his or her own value stage by stage and not only through nepotism, as many young people think.
It is all about identifying your talent, having determination no matter how many times you may face failures or challenges, picking yourself up, and remaining focused on your vision," he advised.
The African Archivers Awards, an annual event, aims to recognise and honour individuals, organisations, and institutions for their outstanding contributions to Africa's development.
The ceremony celebrates excellence, innovation, leadership, and positive impact in various sectors, including business, politics, arts and culture, sports, education, and healthcare.
It serves as an inspiration for others to strive for excellence and make a difference in their respective fields.
