Eisenhower Mkaka, the Secretary General of MCP, welcomed the entry of Professor Chisi and Ms Chakale, highlighting the party's growth.
Lilongwe, Malawi-In a significant political development, Professor Chisi, the former President of Umodzi Party, and Ms Zelia Chakale, the former DPP Vice President for the Central Region, officially joined the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) on November 3, 2023, at the MCP Headquarters in Lilongwe, writes Esther Banda.
Professor Chisi expressed his belief in the importance of unity and collaboration for the development of the country, aligning with the Malawi Vision of 2063.
Despite his previous role as the President of the Umodzi Party, he revealed that he had always had an MCP member at heart, acknowledging President Chakwera's efforts in improving the lives of Malawians.
"Malawi does not need numerous political parties, but rather, it requires the MCP to achieve the goals set forth in MW2063. Therefore, we must support and work together with President Chakwera," stated Chisi.
Ms Zelia Chakale echoed these sentiments, emphasising President Chakwera's commitment to development and the betterment of the people in the country.
She expressed her heartfelt interest in joining the government to actively contribute to the ongoing progress in Malawi.
Chakale further revealed that it had always been her aspiration to witness positive changes in Malawi's situation, and joining the MCP allows her to be an integral part of the transformative journey.

He expressed optimism about the upcoming 2025 tripartite elections, stating that the increasing number of individuals joining the MCP will make their job easier.
"We are witnessing an influx of people, including Members of Parliament from other parties, expressing their interest in joining the MCP. This growing family will undoubtedly strengthen our party," remarked Mkaka.
