ACM, MDF Pact to Boost Regional Air Cargo
Officials say the collaboration will boost regional trade and economic development in line with Malawi's vision for 2063.
LILONGWE, Malawi -- Air Cargo Malawi Limited (ACM) and the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) have formed a new partnership aimed at enhancing air cargo services and trade across southern and eastern Africa, writes AfricaBrief Reporter.
The two entities signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Thursday that allows ACM to charter MDF aircraft for transporting specialized cargo consignments between Malawi and countries in the SADC, COMESA and East Africa regions.
"This partnership is a testament to our commitment to providing reliable and efficient air cargo services," said ACM Chairman Felix Tandwe.
"We are proud to work with the Malawi Defence Forces to enhance our services and contribute to the country's economic development."
The agreement, which also demonstrates progress in ACM's turnaround strategy, is expected to provide seamless logistics for exporters and importers.
ACM Chief Executive Officer Thokozani Unyolo said the MOU "opens up an opportunity for export of specialized cargo such as cut flowers and other horticultural products to Africa and beyond."
For the MDF, the partnership aligns with its goals of supporting national economic growth. Commander General Paul Valentino Phiri said the charters will maximize usage of MDF planes to generate additional revenue for its aviation department.
"We are pleased to partner with Air Cargo Malawi Limited, demonstrating our commitment to supporting the country's economic growth and development," Phiri said.
Officials say the collaboration will boost regional trade and economic development in line with Malawi's vision for 2063.
