Absolutely tragic: Ten people perish in road accident in MW

Malawi: Ten people have been killed and 24 injured in a road accident involving a bus and a stationary truck in Kasungu on Monday, according to Kasungu Police Station Public Relations Officer, Josephy Kachikho.
According to Kachikho, Macdonald Kumonda, a driver for Matours bus registration number MN 6364, lost control of the vehicle shortly after switching directions with another vehicle and collided with the stationary ERF truck KK 4015/ KA 2584.
With 66 passengers on board, the bus was travelling from Kasungu to Mzimba on its way to Chitipa.
"When the driver arrived in Mkulala Village, he was exchanging directions with an unknown vehicle, and after finishing the exchange, he noticed a breakdown vehicle in front of him."
"Due to speeding, the driver of Matours Bus Services lost control of his vehicle and collided with a stationary truck, causing both vehicles to swerve to the extreme nearside and crash into a drainage," said Sub Inspector Kachikho.
Ten passengers were confirmed dead upon arrival at Nkhamenya Rural Hospital, three other passengers were injured and are being treated at Kasungu District Hospital, and 20 passengers escaped with minor injuries.
