265 Energy Commits to Environmental Conservation
The most recent 3kg cylinder gas cooker is currently being offered for K35, 000 and includes a 3kg supply of gas to get it started as well as other accessories.
Malawi: As one of the leading producers of gas cooking appliances in the country, 265 Energy is committed to contributing to environmental protection through the production of affordable, environmentally-friendly cooking appliances, writes Moses Nyirenda.
Mfundo Mbvundula, CEO of 265 Energy, said in a statement following the launch of a 3 kg gas cooker on Thursday in Lilongwe that the company is promoting the use of gas in the nation to prevent deforestation caused by the production of charcoal.
“What we want to address is getting Malawians to start cooking in a modern way, all our neighbours in Zimbabwe, as well as Tanzania, are all using gas, and we are the only ones who are still using makala which has health risks to families, children, and also forests. Therefore, with our products, we no longer want people in the country to be cutting down trees for charcoal, we want people to be using gas for cooking,” Mbvundula said.
He continued by saying that their recently introduced gas cooker has been made more affordable and user-friendly so that families across the nation, including those from middle-class families, can easily access it.
In order to protect the country's environment, particularly its forests, he further urged households to adopt the use of gas for cooking.
Additionally, he stated that his company would open office branches in all of the nation's districts to ensure that its gas cooking facilities were easily accessible throughout the entire country.
“We will always ensure that our affordable gas cooking products are available everywhere in the country in order for people to access them,” he said.
Blessings Mwale, the Deputy Chief of Party for Morden Cooking for Healthy Forests, praised 265 Energy for its affordable gas cooking products and for demonstrating a commitment to the country's forests and the environment.
Lilongwe City Mayor Councillor Richard Banda, who served as the event's guest of honour, praised 265 Energy and said that its gas-cooking products would aid in addressing the nation's deforestation problem.
