17-Year-Old Student Commits Suicide in Mzimba

According to the police, the student had recently been involved in a motorcycle accident while borrowing his brother-in-law's bike without permission and fled the scene.

Malawi: A 17-year-old student committed suicide by hanging himself with his shirt in a bathroom on January 11th in Luzi, under Traditional Authority Jalavikuba, in Mzimba district, writes Victor Musongole.

According to the police, the student had recently been involved in a motorcycle accident while borrowing his brother-in-law's bike without permission and fled the scene.

He returned to his friend's house before being summoned back home, where he was promised a peaceful resolution.

However, he later took his own life in the bathroom.

The police are urging citizens to seek help instead of resorting to suicide when facing difficult issues.

The student was originally from Ilema village in Chitipa.
