It is with deep sadness that we announce the unfortunate demise of Mr. Daniel Msonda, UNFPA staff in Myanmar, on 18 July 2020, in Nay Pyi Taw.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the unfortunate demise of Mr. Daniel Msonda, UNFPA staff in Myanmar, on 18 July 2020, in Nay Pyi Taw.
Mr. Msonda, a Malawian national, first came to Myanmar as UNFPA staff in 2013. A distinguished demographic expert, he played a lead role in advising the Government of Myanmar on Census and population level data collection, analysis and use. A soft-spoken individual, Dan was well regarded within the UN and international community, and among national counterparts who will all miss his friendly approach and calming influence.
As a mark of respect to our departed colleague, the UN flag to be flown at half-mast from 19 to 21 July.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Dan’s family, friends and colleagues at this moment. May he rest in peace.
