Limited Infrastructure Hinders Service Delivery at Tisungane Clinic, Zomba
Inadequate infrastructure at Tisungane Clinic in Zomba undermines service delivery, calls for support and collaboration made.
ZOMBA, MALAWI — During a recent tour led by the Tisungane Clinic board of trustees, limited infrastructure was identified as a major challenge affecting service delivery at the hospital, according to Peter Davieson, reporting on the situation.
Thom Chaweza, the Chief Programs Manager for Tisungane Clinic, underscored the impact of inadequate space on service provision.
Chaweza stated, "We have a lot of services that we can provide to the people, but if you don't have adequate space, the services are scattered not in one place as it is supposed to be. But all in all, we appreciate the support we are getting from Zomba Central Hospital and our headquarters in Lilongwe Light House."
Owen Lupeska, Trustee for Light House, emphasized the significance of visiting the clinic to encourage and empower its staff and establish an interface with officials.
He highlighted the collaboration between the Ministry of Health and Light House personnel, thanking donors and requesting continued support to enhance their efforts in managing HIV/AIDS.
Lupeska also pledged to provide new infrastructure to address the current limitations faced by Tisungane Clinic.
Established by Dignitas International in October 2004, Light House aims to combat HIV and offers various services, including TB screening and management, advanced HIV disease management, in-patient services, Gender-Based Violence support, PreP, and OPDL lab services, among others.
The tour led by Tisungane Clinic's board of trustees has shed light on the critical issue of limited infrastructure, highlighting the need for ongoing support to improve healthcare services for the community.
The dedication of organizations like Light House and their collaborative efforts with the Ministry of Health is vital in addressing the healthcare challenges faced in the region.
