African Writers Invited to Mulher Forte Literary Awards in Botswana
In a nod to affordability and accessibility, winners will receive honorary certificates in PDF format, as many authors may be unable to travel.

GABORONE, Botswana—The Mulher Forte African Literature Platform has opened nominations for its 5th Annual African Literature Awards, set to culminate in a grand finale in Gaborone, Botswana, on May 24, writes Winston Mwale.
African authors with published works between 2020 and 2025 are invited to submit entries for the honors, which recognize excellence across a wide range of literary categories.
Eligible books must carry an ISBN with a visible barcode and meet basic editing standards.
“This is the moment for authors to contact Mulher Forte to secure a spot for being honored for their awesome work,” the organizers said in a statement.
In a nod to affordability and accessibility, winners will receive honorary certificates in PDF format, as many authors may be unable to travel.
The event will also be streamed live to accommodate virtual attendance and participation.
A $15 "meet-us-halfway" fee has been introduced to support event logistics, according to the organizing team.
